Mice

Description:
Mice are one of the most common problems we deal with. One of the first signs of an infestation are their droppings, which can best be described in appearance to “black grains of rice”. One of the other signs is damage caused to food packaging. They are mostly found in and around the kitchen, cupboards under the stairs and also around boiler cupboards. It can be very difficult to exclude mice from a property, particularly flats and terraced houses as there are so many possible points of ingress. In our industry it is often said that mice can fit through the same size opening as a biro pen (6mm in diameter).
Treatment:
To control a mouse infestation we carry out a three-part treatment. We visit the property on three separate occasions spaced two weeks between visits. We use tamper resistant bait boxes for the placement of baits; these can only be opened using a key. The baits are placed in areas where the mice are most likely to be found (see above text). We also give advice on proofing issues on each visit and sometimes it is necessary to give some housekeeping tips e.g. the storage of food, refuse, etc. In most situations three visits is sufficient to control a mouse infestation, however, as we are dealing with unknown quantities it is sometimes necessary to carry out additional visits which are charged on a pro-rata basis.
